Do you feel her vibrate beneath your feet? Can you feel her as the wind blows across your body, your face, as she blows away what’s not needed any longer and brings in new energy? Can you see her bring the rain to wash away all the dust, allergens and bring new life to the trees and plants? Can you hear her call your name when you meditate by the water?
When devastation happens to our earth do you feel trees suffering? Do you feel the anger of streams and rivers as they flood, the rushing water as it slams against the shore? Do you smell the cleanness of a spring rain? Do you smell the freshness of the cold snowy night? What happens to you when a winter storm hits your house? Do you even pay attention to what is happening outside? The coldness as it seeps into your body and sends shivers all through your body, what is happening to you when that happens? What are you thinking about?
Today I sit in my porch writing this blog, the wind is whipping the trees and leaves around as if they are puppets being controlled. My rose bushes seem to be enjoying the wind as their leaves are being cleaned from the dust that has accumulated on them. Allowing them to breathe more easily. The wind is cold and it seems to be telling me to prepare for winter as it is probably coming sooner than I wish it to.
I can hear the wind as it tries to rip off shingles and open windows without actually opening them. It screams through the screens and vibrates the glass as I wonder how on earth it can withstand the force without shattering.
There are raindrops on the window that simply remain still, there is so much force from the wind that they cannot gather and run down the window. Nor do they dry, they just simply stay in place, like they are afraid to do anything.
I can feel the winds vibration, my body sort of likes it, mostly because of the smell of freshness. Yet it stings my face and send chills up my spine. It’s not as though it is a horrible feeling, it’s not the most pleasant of feelings either.
With the wind brings a sort of “airing out of the laundry” feelings. Move the old stagnant air and bringing in air from some other part of the country. If you pay close attention the smell is not the same as it was yesterday. I wonder where this air came from, who breathed it in before I am? What plant seeds, or new allergens is it bringing with it?
My whole point to this form of questioning is simple. What do you pay attention to when Mother earth brings us something besides blue sky’s and sunshine? When there is damage to trees, buildings, plants and animals how do you feel or do you pay attention at all? There seems to be an array of devastating storms lately and I wonder if we are even paying attention to what Mother earth is telling us. What seems to be her message or is she simply ripping down the old so we can begin with new?
